This site exists for the purpose of discussing the truth of the Bible. We believe that it is an egregious crime against God’s word to let our culture bring the context to the scripture. We should interpret scripture using the context that is already there and try to understand it the way it would have been originally received.
Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 2:15 “15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
That part about “rightly handling the word of truth” when viewed in Koine Greek is the word ὀρθοτομέω (transliterated orthotomeō) and it means to “cut straight.”
Think of it like this, Paul made tents for a while and understood that when you are cutting large pieces of fabric, if you cut just slightly off you’ll be way off by the time you finish cutting and your tent will be worthless. So, just like making sure that you cut a perfectly straight line when cutting tent fabric, so it should be that when you are handling the word of truth that you should make sure you get it right or cut it straight.
So, this site exists to rightly handle or cut straight the word of truth and teach you to do the same. We hope you’ll join us on this journey.
